Multiple Security System Tester (MSST)

The MSST
allows you to use the Explorer as a Multiple Security System Tester.  You can also place the results from a system test into any of the formula tools.

Options include the ability to trade on the OPEN of the following day, and still have the ability to get stopped out that day (unlike MetaStock, which waits another day before looking for stops).  This makes MSST more true-to-life than MetaStock.

Or try putting multiple system tests in multiple windows in one chart, and then scroll through all of your securities.  The tests are automatically updated.

You could also put system test results in an Expert.

Enhancements to 2.0 include options to set initial equity, commissions, interest, a delayed entry on the open of the next bar, max loss stop, inactivity stop, and profit target stop.  New functions include Total Winning Trades, Total Losing Trades, Average Win, Average Loss, Signals Observed, and Current Position.

MSST is pre-packaged with the standard interpretations for the MACD, RSI, DMI, moving average penetration, moving average crossover, and template formulas to make it easy for you to get a system up and testing.

The user provides a "signal formula" that gives the following signals:

0 = No Signal
+1 = Enter Long
+2 = Close Long
-1 = Enter Short
-2 = Close Short

MSST returns system equity, percent return, number of long, short, and total trades, days long, days short, days out, number of winning trades, number of losing trades, average win, average loss, and signals observed.

To get a final percent return number on your system (e.g., "my system return x% when tested against all 9000 of my stocks), you must copy the results of the exploration to a spreadsheet such as Excel, sum up the percent return column, and divide by the number of stocks.

See the step-by-step guide to using MSST.
